Like any home improvement, deciding which company to go solar with is more important than when you sign the dotted line. Choosing the right solar company ensures your system's quality, reliability, and longevity.

When you’re making a long-term investment in your home, you should know where to go and who will be there to help if an issue ever arises. Does your company have an in-state office location and personnel? Though most solar systems are reliable, things happen and having a local team to support you is important.
After you have signed the dotted line, you must go through a permitting process. Because your solar array will be tied into the grid, you have to get approval from the Public Utility Commission and possibly your municipality before your project can start construction.
Like all bureaucracy, there can be a lot of red tape. Each town municipality has its own rules and regulations. It can be quite the minefield as many towns are rapidly changing their requirements for solar installations!

The installation team that will assemble your solar array also has rules and regulations regarding who is performing the work and who will be onsite! For every team, there must be one licensed electrician onsite for every two apprentices. Solar companies that staff their installation teams and subcontractors locally are better able to maintain the credibility of their teams.
